The great Sage Dadhichi made the ultimate sacrifice, donating his bones to create 's thunderbolt. His grieving wife, Swarcha, placed her unborn baby into the safe hollow of an ancient Peepal tree before departing. The child was born under the tree's protective shade, nourished entirely by the divine sap dripping from its leaves. He was named Pippalada. Growing up, the celestial seer Narada informed the brilliant young boy that his family's severe hardships were due to the harsh cosmic transit of Shani Dev (Saturn).
