Nāth Sampradāya

नाथ सम्प्रदायNātha Sampradāya

Founder / origin — Matsyendranātha and Gorakṣanātha (c. 9th–12th c. CE)

Tantric yoga tradition centred on haṭha and rāja yoga; the body as vehicle of realisation.

The Nāth Sampradāya of the siddha yogīs shaped the entire haṭha-yoga tradition. Gorakṣanātha's teaching brought yogic physiology — nāḍī, cakra, kuṇḍalinī — into a coherent practical system aimed at siddhi and immortality (kāya-siddhi). Its lineage runs through Kabīr, Nāmdev, and Guru Nānak's spiritual milieu, and its texts are the foundation of modern global yoga.
