A shadow of weakness had fallen over the heavens. Indradev, the King of the Gods, had insulted the volatile Sage Durvasa, who cursed the Devas to lose all their divine brilliance and vitality. Sensing their frailty, the Asuras launched a brutal siege, seizing control of the celestial realms. Desperate, the weakened Devas sought refuge in Ksheera Sagara, pleading with the Supreme Preserver, . 's voice echoed like rolling thunder: 'O Devas, fear not. You must strike a tactical truce with your eternal rivals, the Asuras. Only by combining your strengths can you churn the primeval Ocean of Milk to secure the Amrita, the legendary elixir of Immortality. Go, offer them an equal share, but trust in my cosmic design.' Reluctantly, met with the Asura King Bali, proposing the alliance. Tempted by the promise of eternal life, the Asuras agreed. Together, they traveled to the cosmic ocean, carrying Mount Mandara to serve as the churning rod, and pleading with Vasuki, the King of Serpents, to wrap himself around the mountain to serve as the pulling rope.
