Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā · Chapter 10 of 18

Vibhuti YogaThe Yoga of Divine Glories

विभूतियोगः

Krishna describes his own origin as unknown even to the gods and great sages, since he is their source. He explains that every notable quality in beings -- intelligence, patience, truth, even fame and disrepute -- arises from him, and that the great sages and lawgivers from whom humanity descends were born of his will. Arjuna, deeply moved, asks Krishna to describe his divine manifestations in full so he can better meditate on him. Krishna responds with the chapter's famous catalogue: among each category of being or thing, he names himself as the finest or most representative example -- Vishnu among sun-gods, the Ganga among rivers, Arjuna himself among the Pandavas -- illustrating that his presence infuses the very best of everything in creation. He closes by noting that this list is only a glimpse of his endless glory, since he sustains the entire universe with just a fragment of himself.

Sanskrit and named translations (Swami Ramsukhdas for Hindi, Shri Purohit Swami for English) sourced from the user-supplied bhagavad_gita_chapter_10.json (github.com/bhavykhatri/DharmicData, ODbL license), processed locally. Transliteration (IAST) generated with the indic_transliteration library and lightly reformatted; plain_summary composed for this repository. The source's English translation of verse 10.6 embedded a genuinely useful footnote (naming the seven great sages and four ancient sages the main sentence only refers to by number); that footnote content was folded into the sentence and the asterisk markers removed, unlike Chapter 8's stray editorial aside, which was simply discarded. The recurring source-text vowel-sign transposition glitch was corrected via the same general regex used from Chapter 7 onward.
